Tifosi vs Oakley Golf Sunglasses
I recent was in the market for a new pair of sunglasses to wear while playing golf. The pair I have had for two years and purchased for $20 simply snapped in half on the nose-bridge one sunn day while I was putting them on; what do you expect for $20. So, I set out to purchase a better pair of glasses. I figured if I was going to buy a new pair, I wanted to get a pair that would help my golf game; because good golf sunglasses will surely help you play better golf, right? Yes, I know the answer: "Probably not, and quit calling me Shirley."
So I shopped around, finding many sunglasses which were being sold at golf stores; but only a few pairs claiming to be "Golf Sun Glasses", or "Golf Sunglasses". Most notably were the Oakley Half Jacket Golf Sunglasses which come with three sets of replaceable lenses for different lighting conditions. Once I found these Oakley Golf Sunglasses, I knew these must be the ones for me, but damn were they expensive for a pair of golf sunglasses which I may sit on one day in the golf cart or leave sitting on a tee box. So I pondered my potential purchase for a period.
During my short period of Golf Sunglasses purchase pondering I wondered into another Golf retailer to be introduced to Tifosi Sunglasses. The sales associates in this particular golf store all had favorable comments for the Tifosi golf sunglasses, but I was skeptical; I have heard of Oakley, I know the name Oakley, who is Tifosi? So I went home a researched. Here were some of the information I found:
- "...Tifosi have quickly found a place as a quality, good-looking, effective, but reasonably priced product."
- "The gunmetal frame and lens option features Tifosi's new Fototec lenses that adjust to the light and change accordingly- in roughly eight seconds- using variable tint technology."
- "Extensive research went into the Tifosi GT (Golf/Tennis) lens."
- "Tifosi Optics has ranked number five in the eyewear category of both the Velonews 2005 Reader Survey and the Inside Triathlon 2005 Reader Survey."
Tifosi, I believe it is pronouced Te-fo-see (the Te is similar to the 'te" in the word ten), is touted as "Sunglasses by Enthusiasts for Enthusiasts". Tifosi offers specialty sunglasses for Golfers which have interchangable lenses for different lighting conditions, and they offer a Fototec lenses which darken and lighten with lighting conditions. Not only do they have a set of Golf Sunglasses with replaceable lenses just like the Oakley Golf Sunglasses, they offer two different models: one with a single-piece lense, and one with a two-piece lense. More importantly, the price was much better than the Oakley Golf Sunglasses.
After reading numerous positive reviews about Tifosi, I returned to the golf retailer to pick up a pair, but which pair of the Tifoso Golf Sunglasses should I get? Long story short, I ended up purchasing both pairs of Tifosi Golf Sunglasses because BOTH pairs of the Tifosi, together, were about half the price of the Oakley Golf Sunglasses. Ultimately, I was able to purchase two pairs of Tifosi Golf Sunglasses for about half the price of one pair of the Oakley Golf Sunglasses; and I am every bit as happy with my Tifosi as I could have been with the more expensive glasses, and I have two pairs! If you are in the market for some sunlasses, I would highly recommend checking out a Tifosi Dealer, the glasses are well made, research goes into the glasses, and they will not cost you a fortune.

I purchased the Tifosi Golf Sunglasses with the replaceable lenses. The sunglass set came with three sets of lenses for different lighting conditions and for use on the fairway or on the green.
I would recommend these to anyone, especially for the price when compared to the expensive Oakley golf sunglasses.
The Tifosi Golf Sunglasses were exactly what I was wanting in a pair of Golf Sunglasses.
